Zoe takes us through the whole grooming and styling procedure with the ‘King of Terriers’ the Airedale whilst discussing correct handling, safety procedures whilst clipping and scissoring and of course avoiding common mistakes such as preventing the ‘Poodle look’ and how not to create those ever so popular ‘Wellington boots’!

The Border and the Irish Terriers are dealt with a little differently; Zoe briefly explains the reasoning and techniques that she uses.

As well as discovering the original purpose for their facial furnishings, we learn how to subtlety create the various desired expressions for the individual breed- from the keen, mean, scowling look of the Fox Terrier to the softest of expressions of the pretty Lakeland.

As a pet stylist, I’m sure you’ll agree that when you get it right, there’s nothing more satisfying than turning a scruffy, overgrown terrier into a smart and tailored ‘dog about town’. Ideally these breeds should be hand-stripped to achieve the desired look and texture to the coat; however Zoe explains the reasons why so many harsh-coated terriers do get clipped.
