This Master Class is divided into seven chapters. It can therefore be watched in its entirety or certain aspects can be chosen in order to refresh your skills.

After each chapter there is a Summary which reiterates the important factors and aids as reminders to various aspects of what has just been seen. Simply pause on these and read in your own time.

  1. Breed Standard. Before starting, Agnes discusses the shape, coat textures and characteristics of the breed. This information is of course essential to know before beginning to style.
  2. Preparation Work. Very important. Without thorough correct preparation, you will never achieve the desired look. From skin and coat care right through to clipping the hygiene areas, including ear, eye, mouth, nail care and brushing out methods. Agnes explains simply and methodically this essential routine.
  3. Bathing. Correct procedures, including health and safety issues for both you and the dog.
  4. Drying. Ah yes, a Scottie being dried! Not known for their co operation with this procedure but Agnes does it very well!!!!
  5. Clipping and Blending. The aim is to achieve a natural look. Agnes explains the option of various blades and metal comb attachments. The importance of blending is paramount. The two methods go hand in hand. This chapter is sub divided into Short Clipper Work and Long Clipper Work.
  6. Scissor and Styling Work. This chapter is also divided into two sub sections, ‘Body Work’ and ‘Facial Furnishings’. Agnes refers to the correct proportions of the dog and how we can achieve a balanced look. Although only small amounts are trimmed at a time, the shaping, thinning and attention to detail is crucial and ultimately creates a striking finish.
  7. Equipment and Products. Everything that Agnes uses throughout the Master Class.
