Eve Somers lives, works and teaches in the beautiful Tamar Valley area of Cornwall where her Kerry Blue Terriers enjoy the magnificent surroundings.

Her life with dogs began at a very early age- helping out at her Aunt’s ‘Poodle Parlour’ in the 60’s. Eve was no stranger to the Show World either, as she often accompanied her aunt whilst exhibiting and racing Whippets and also with her parents and their Basset Hounds.

From 1989, Eve showed Dobermanns and established a bloodline using the affix Dogazza which continues today with her Kerry Blues and a Welsh Terrier. She is passionate about correct temperament in the show dog, believing they are the breed's ambassadors to the general public. It is of great concern to her that the two breeds she loves so much are on the vulnerable breeds list and she is convinced this is because of the public perception of the terrier temperament plus, of course, the trimming requirements.

Eve owns a highly successful grooming salon; enjoys success with her Kerries at Championship level and often competes at the various grooming competitions. However, her greatest forte of all is her natural teaching ability and this is where her main sphere of interest lies.  Her enthusiasm for the dog grooming profession is admirable and she strongly believes that with the correct training, groomers can identify basic health problems and contribute to the enhancement of animal welfare. Eve of course holds the Advanced Level in Dog Grooming and also the Teaching Certificate in F.E. Her training school is a Pet Care Trust Accredited Centre where her reputation now precedes her, having students from all over the globe! Eve’s positive approach to the profession and encouragement to her students has in turn produced many success stories in the competition arena and dozens of reputable salons with qualified, skilled, confident owners and groomers.

Eve has presented numerous grooming demonstrations on the Kerry Blue, in which she discusses the importance of construction, shape and styling, her most recent being at Crufts 2008.
