Dee has been a professional Canine Beautician for 25 years, running a highly successful salon in Leicester where she grooms all breeds of pet dogs and regularly has requests for her grooming skills on show dogs of various breeds. She runs grooming tuition courses and gives lectures and writes articles on grooming the Irish Setter. Dee started breeding Cocker Spaniels over 25 years ago and registered her affix 'Thendara' with the Kennel Club at that time. She bought her first Irish Setter in 1987 from Jeremy Bott (now her husband!). She was called SH.CH. Bardonhill Sea Breeze over Thendara and she gained her Show Champion title in 1990. From her and her sister Binkie, and another bitch, Bardonhill Eeny Meeny of Thendara (best bitch Crufts 1992) all of the Thendara dogs are descended. So far Dee and Jeremy have bred 8 UK Champions and 5 overseas champions. They have won to date 60 Challenge Certificates (CC's) from 9 Dogs and won the prestigious title of Best of Breed at Crufts five times,their latest being 2007 with ‘Don’ Sh.Ch.Thendara Don Corleone who stars in her Master Class. In total Dee and Jeremy have won the CC at Crufts 7 times and Best of Breed 5 Times (a record post 1950). Dee has won awards, for Top Dog, Top Puppy, Top Sire, Top Stud Dog, runner up Top Stud Dog All Breeds, and Top Breeder. Dee and Jeremy also breed and show Afghan Hounds with which they have enjoyed some success, although time dictates that their showing is limited. Dee is passed by the Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates in Irish Setters, She has also passed the Afghan Hound judging exam and judges Afghan Hounds at Open show level. Dee has extensive experience judging all Breeds, Groups, and Best in Show at Open Show level. She has judged in Sweden twice, Hungary, Germany, & Ireland and will be judging in the USA in 08.
